Everyone needs a bit of spa time right? During the summer months I ask a lot of my body from teaching back to back sup yoga, yoga and private clients, wild swims, hikes in the sunshine and runs with pups. Earlier this week I was lucky enough to head to the stunning Hotel Du Vin in Exeter, for a very needed afternoon of self love and catch up with my beautiful friend. It's not often I carve out time in my diary for self care but I've been feeling the need recently.
The building itself is truly beautiful, and well worth a little explore if you haven't been before. When we arrived admittedly we made a beeline straight for the spa, situated slightly away from the main hotel and restaurant, ensuring it is peaceful for guests. The spa has a wood burning stove right in the middle, which I can imagine being super cosy in the winter for treatments! I was booked in to experience the Spa Retreat package, which includes an hours treatment, use of the hotel pool and afternoon tea. I chose a facial and it was amazing, truly indulgent and relaxing. My therapist used a range of deliciously smelling Ren Skincare products. From what I can remember (I completely zoned out) my facial consisted of four or five stages, my favourite section had to be the deep exfoliation, followed by a hot towel, then what felt like a cooling gel. The whole experience left my skin feeling revived and my body completely relaxed.
Post treatment and completely relaxed, we headed to the pool. The pool is half indoor and half outdoor, best of both worlds! Whilst floating around my friend and I completely lost track of time chatting and quickly jumped back into our robes and slippers provided by the hotel, showered and dressed for afternoon tea.
We had afternoon tea in the lounge, bathed in natural light and attempted to devour all of the very naughty goodies on offer. This girls got to embrace the scones once in a while, especially now I live in Devon!
The whole afternoon was just what I needed, time to treat my body, have a good girlie chat and completely let go of all tensions, body and mind. We are all in need of taking more time out for self care and for a good chin wag! I can highly recommend a little trip to Hotel Du Vin Exeter Spa!
If you go let me know what treatment you had! I feel I may find myself there more than once a year!
