Well I'll be first to admit that I haven't been here in a while to write a little blog post. I promised a while back when I got back into my blog that I wouldn't be scared off by the thought that I had to write thousands of words to make my blog post a worthy ready. But somehow this thought has crept into my head the last few weeks and has stopped me from taking the time out to write a post! So I thought to get back into it I would share with you my weekend as I had a beautiful weekend with my husbands friends finally exploring where we have moved to! My weekend was Yoga free as I spent all of Friday teaching realising that my wrist and hand was getting progressively worse and it was time to not be on my hands for a while! This is the first weekend my husband and I have hosted guests in our home which is almost finished, normally any free time when we are not working we are renovating the house, finishing off the last bits and bobs. So this weekend was a very very welcome break, forcing us to get out of the house to explore and enjoy where we live!
Our guests arrived on Saturday morning and we headed straight to The Pig at Combe, a stunning country home converted into a beautiful hotel and restaurant. Before going any further, this isn't at all a sponsored post, they have no idea I am writing this, I am purely sharing with you a place I love and thankfully for me 10 minutes from my house! I was absolutely desperate to show our guests the veggie patch there, it is amazing, it has everything from raspberries to chocolate mint!
My favourite thing about this place is everything on the menu is sourced within a 25 mile radius and fresh. We ate lunch outside in the main restaurant, I had a delicious Nettle and Spinach soup, ingredients freshly picked from their veggie gardens and the others had a mixture of fish and meat dishes, all incredible!
This is my second visit to The Pig, my husband took me here for my birthday, treating me to a massage, hands down the best massage I had ever had... the treatment rooms are in converted potting sheds in the veggie garden, with heated beds and beautiful rustic/original decor. An absolute must if you are visiting!
This time around massages weren't on the cards as post lunch we headed to Sidmouth for a SUP, the sun was shining and our friends had bought their SUP's with them. Luckily for me the very kind Guy's of Jarassic Paddle Sports (literally Guy's, two guys called Guy...amazing!) lent me a board (mine are in Salcombe for Yoga) and we Sup'd and swam for a good couple of hours...making room for dinner! If you're local to the area keep your eyes peeled for some SUP Yoga pop ups happening over the summer.
Sunday was a stunner of a day, we started with our first brekkie outside on our refurbed door as our new table, acai bowls, fresh fruits and homemade granola fresh out of the oven that morning.
Then off to the beach for another SUP with freshly homemade salads (I made a feta and tomato salad, a quinoa, radish, pepper, kiwi, mango & rocket salad with toasted pinenuts, some roasted butternut squash, smoked salmon & granary loaf). We SUP'd almost to Branscombe following the coastline, this time turning left from Sidmouth beach, it was absolutely incredible. The ocean was crystal clear, we saw lots of dogfish (they look like mini sharks!), starfish, a few sea urchins and about 5 different types of jellyfish....a truly special day we could have been in the Caribbean.
We stopped about 2 hours in for lunch and a swim on the beach and then turned around and headed home. The wind picked up and it was a bit of a tedious SUP back to Sidmouth but well worth it for homemade (not by me) ice cream on our return.
I absolutely love the feeling of getting home exhausted after a day on the water....salty body, salty hair, physically exhausted and sun kissed. A similar feeling to skiing all day in the mountains.
The weekend finished with my feet up, a movie and some dark chocolate! What have you got planned this weekend?
Guys and Gals, if you've read this far, thank you! What else do you want to know about? I'm blog planning...so let me have your questions! DM me on social!
Lots of Love
PS. Apologies for the slightly blurry GoPro pics, I managed to scratch my lens a few days after buying it a good few years ago :-( and I don't think I can get it fixed....if anyone knows someone who can work some magic please let me know!
